The charming town of Pesé, in the province of Herrera, is the cradle of Hacienda San Isidro, where two emblematic Panamanian liquor brands: Ron Abuelo and Seco Herrerano, are produced.

It was there in 1908, that Spanish immigrant don José Varela Blanco established Ingenio San Isidro to process sugar cane in addition to producing his famous spirits, thus establishing the company, Varela Hermanos, S.A. Today, the company continues under the leadership of the third generation of the Varela family.

Over a century of tradition as liquor producers motivates Varela Hermanos to show the evolution of a small sugar mill into a leader in the market, with an annual production of over one million crates, and presence in over 35 countries, with great expansion into the United States and Europe.
