Likewise, the private and government sectors are developing and investing resources to create an ideal environment for the MICE industry in Panama, the capital city of which features approximately 20,000 hotel rooms (an additional 12,000 rooms are scattered throughout the nation) –a fact that guarantees a complete and high-quality MICE destination, since many of said properties are part of prestigious hotel chains such as Hilton, Marriott, Wyndham, Starwood, Hyatt Place, Hard Rock, and Riu, among others. It is important to underline that these hotels are equipped with facilities for small and medium-sized meetings in a variety of locations (city, mountain, and beach hotels). Also,3 major convention centers are currently under construction in several parts of the country: the first in Panama City; the second, in the province of Chiriquí, and the third in the Azuero peninsula.

Diversity of services

The diversification of events in recent years is another reason why Panama is the best destination for your next international meeting. The country offers a modern network of services capable of satisfying the most demanding requirements of any group. Between January and May of 2017, Panama hosted 43 major events, such as Allegran, the Global Hard Rock Conference, the “Rothans, Benson & Hedes National Commercial Conference 2017,” Special Olympics, the US Grain Congress, the IPPA Summit, and the II Congress of Agriculture in Controlled Environments. AIR CONNECTIVITY AND INCREASING MEETING AND CONVENTION FACILITIES

In recent years, the aerial connectivity of the Isthmus of Panama has become more relevant for the region and the world as a whole, thanks to the creation of the “Hub of the Americas”, one of the most outstanding traits our country exhibits for hosting international meetings and conventions. In 2018, said connectivity was strengthened with the opening of flight services to Asia (China). Also, the quality of our MICE facilities has improved considerably in recent years and will continue to do so with the opening of the Amador Convention Center in early 2019. The country offers an excellent geographic position in the center of the Americas, reducing travel time for meeting participants from around the globe. To date, Panama City is linked to Europe through direct flight services by Lufthansa, Iberia, Air France, KLM, and Turkish Airlines, and to the United States via United, American Airlines, Delta and through Copa Airlines, our flag carrier. Copa –which manages the “Hub of the Americas”—provides direct flights to 80 destinations in North, Central, and South America. Other airlines serving Panama City are Avianca, Air Canada, Conviasa, Aeromexico, Cubana, Avior Airlines, SBA Airlines, Laser Airlines, and Aruba Airlines. AirChina flies between Panama City and Beijing, via the United States.
