Colombian-Panamanian hotel chain consolidates name brand

With over 40 years of service in the tourism industry, Las Américas hotel chain is now officially a single international hospitality group with properties in its country of origin (Colombia), as well as in neighboring Panama, where the chain’s most recent property, Las Américas Golden Tower, operates in the exclusive Paitilla district, in Panama City.

The consolidation elevates to 3,500 the number of guests for whom the chain’s 4 hotels have the capacity, in addition to the 5,000 people capable of filling the convention center of the Cartagena Las Américas hotel to its maximum capacity.

One million dollars have been invested in the consolidations’ details, which included internal homologation (which allows the hotel’s marketing through specialized channels and territories,) procurement centralization, and the unification of standards of all of the firm’s properties, which feature an avant-garde concept and state-of-the-art technology.

Andrés Felipe Ordóñez Caicedo, president of Las Américas Hotels Group, stated that one of the benefits of the consolidation is the ability to “…transmit and multiply for everybody those good experiences, actions, and activities that we, as a hotel chain, had performed separately in the past at each of our properties; in addition to offering better rates and certified quality standards without losing the local touch and warmth that each property and destination provides.”

According to Ordóñez, one of the consolidation’s main benefits for clients will be the reduction of costs. He stated, “The main impact generated by the union will be a cost reduction of up to 20% thanks to volume purchases, assuring standards at each hotel without compromising their original concepts. In this manner, we will be able to continue growing in the short and medium terms by reaching out to new markets and clients, as our commercial strength is now consolidated and not exercised in the independent manner in which each hotel previously operated.”

Approximately 500,000 people (families, couples, and corporate clients) lodged at the group’s hotels in 2018, mainly hailing from Bogota, Medellin, Panamá, Barranquilla, and Cali, but also other parts of the world, such as United States, Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Panama, and Europe.

Some of the group’s hotels are already implementing many high-tech options for the benefit of all guests, such as guestrooms controlled by voice commands and cell phone/tablet applications.

The chain’s most recent addition, Panama’s Las Américas Golden Tower, represents an investment of over 80 million dollars and was designed to cater to the needs of both families and corporate clients. The hotel is the creative work of the renowned architect Carlos Ott, who envisioned its amazing details and the bronze hue of each of its finishes. The hotel encompasses 285 guestrooms distributed in 30 stories and is, located in the heart of Panama City’s financial and hotel district.
