European & North American experts to speak at LatAm MICE Forum

The promotion of secondary and main destinations, the responsibility of destination management, and the difference between tourism and meeting-industry services are some of the topics to be addressed during the 6th Latin American Political Forum on the Meetings Industry, which will take place June 10 in Santiago, Chile. The Forum will be a part of the 12th edition of FIEXPO LATIN AMERICA (Latin American and Caribbean Worldwide Meetings & Incentives Exhibition), which will be hosted at Santiago’s Hotel Sheraton.

Demonstrating the growing importance of the MICE sector in Latin America, the forum will be a magnet for tourism cabinet ministers and secretaries, governors, legislators, and for national, provincial and municipal-level tourism-related private and public entities, in addition to convention-bureau representatives from throughout the region.

Some of the guest speakers of the upcoming forum are Christian Mutschlechner (Austria), former president of Vienna’s Conventions Bureau; Sheriff Karamat (USA), Chairman & CEO of PCMA, and Didier Scaillet (Belgium), Executive Director of SITE.

The Meetings, incentives, conferencing, and exhibitions sector is one of the world’s fastest-growing industries, representing over 752 billion dollars in 2016, and exhibiting a projected growth of approximately 1,200 billion in 2023, according to a recently-published survey by Allied Market Research. According to ICCA (International Congress & Convention Association), the main MICE destinations of the Americas currently are Buenos Aires, Montreal, Lima, Toronto, and Mexico City.
